TCF Bank Customers Now Can Use Samsung Pay

Company Release - 12/16/2015 10:48 AM ET

TCF Bank debit card customers get a new way to pay on Samsung Galaxy devices

WAYZATA, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- TCF National Bank (TCF Bank), a subsidiary of TCF Financial Corporation (TCF) (NYSE:TCB), today announced its debit card customers now can make purchases with Samsung Pay.

Samsung Pay is simple, safe, and works almost anywhere you can swipe or tap your card.

  • SIMPLE: To make a payment on Samsung Pay, users can simply swipe up, scan their fingerprint and pay.
  • SAFE: Samsung Pay uses tokenization, Samsung KNOX, and fingerprint authentication to provide secure payments. And, as terminals are upgraded to EMV, that security is leveraged, too. To keep customer card data safe, the actual debit card number is not shared with merchants at payment, rather a digital card number is created through tokenization to represent a customer’s debit card number. All transactions also are protected by TCF Bank’s zero fraud liability, ensuring customers are not responsible if they promptly report unauthorized transactions.
  • ALMOST ANYWHERE*: Samsung Pay is compatible with the majority of existing and new terminals, including most magnetic stripe, EMV and NFC terminals*. That means Samsung Pay works at more places than any other mobile payment service.

“Our customers tell us that they want innovative, convenient and secure ways to pay that align with their everyday lives,” said Geoff Thomas, TCF’s managing director of customer segments and alternative channels. “We’re delighted to offer Samsung Pay as one more choice our customers have to pay for purchases when, where and how they want.”

Samsung Pay is available on eligible Samsung Galaxy devices: Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 active.
